Violinist Mingzhao Zhou began studying violin at age four under her father's guidance. At age eight, she received critical acclaim as a prodigy when she appeared as soloist with the Szechuan Symphony Orchestra performing Mozart Violin Concerto in D Major and Bach Violin Concerto in A Minor in one concert.

Miss Zhou holds music degrees from the Shanghai Conservatory, the Mannes College of Music and the Juilliard School. Her private violin teachers have included Lucie Robert and Robert Mann. She has participated as a soloist in master classes held by renowned violinists such as Ruggiero Ricci, Cho-Liang Lin, and Pamela Frank. She has been a member of the UBS Verbier Festival Youth Orchestra in Switzerland and served as the concertmaster of Mannes Orchestra for the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons.

She has won the first prize in the Cythia Woods Mitchell Young Artist Competition in Houston, first prize in the Mannes Violin Concerto Competition, third prize in the Bergen Philharmonic Concerto Competition and the Barbara Krauker Scholarship Award.

Recent highlights of her solo performances include: Stravinsky Violin Concerto with the Mannes Orchestra, Beethoven Romances with the Camerata New York Orchestra, Sibelius Violin Concerto with the Texas Music Festival Orchestra and Franck Violin Sonata on the Houston Public Radio.

Miss Zhou served as a violinist in the San Diego Symphony and is currently a member of the Albany Symphony.
