Premiere: Zhou Tian's Symphonic Suite: The Grand Canal was the opening work performed at the Opening Ceremony of Zhejiang International Cultural & Art Festival in China. The 7-movement, 45-minute work is scored for two Chinese instruments, a Chinese Opera singer, mixed chorus and full orchestra and was commissioned by Hangzhou Federation of Literary and Art Circles.

《中国大运河》交响组曲奏响浙江省庆祝新中国成立六十周年大型文艺晚会，暨首届浙江文化艺术节开幕式。由周天作曲、指挥的《中国大运河》唱片CD由太平洋影音公司出版，并在全国正式发行。《中国大运河》已被国家新闻出版总署列入《庆祝新中国成立周年全国音像电子出版物重点选题目录》，入围全国“金唱片”奖评选。
